To all residents of Campsea Ashe,
The Parish Council has just been made aware of a potential development proposal in the village. We were asked to keep it confidential at that time. However, having heard an increasing number of comments of concern from local people and have decided to break with the confidentiality and confirm we have recieved a copy of the initial proposed plans. At this stage, there has been no official application filed and the current proposals may well change prior to that time.
We share the obvious concerns of the residents about what further enlargement of the village would mean and the issues it may cause. We will be seeking resident’s views, and residents will also have the ability to express their concerns directly to the local council planning department if and when the proposal becomes live.
Please be assured will always work for the benefit of the villagers, not the benefit of any developers and will share any further information as and when it is shared with us, primarily through the official PC website.
October 2025
The government has issued new housing targets, reflecting the urgent need for new homes. As a result, our area will face increased pressure on providing land for development. East Suffolk (District) Council (ESC) has indicated to the PC, that Campsea Ashe is regarded a prime location for such, due to its vicinity to the A12 and its connection the rail network.
ESC has issued a 'Call for Sites', which invites land owners to propose sites for development, which will be examined for inclusion into the new Local Plan 2026, and will be reflecting the government's housing supply targets. Those target have increased by over 80%, and it is likely for the council currently not meeting those.
The PC and residents will have a chance to comment on proposals when& the new Draft Local Plan is published later in 2026. The PC has at this stage no knowledge of proposed sites, and furthermore is not involved in this process. However, we invite residents and landowners to contact the Parish Council to discuss proposals and concerns.
We all are going to be affected by this and the PC needs comments and thoughts to appropriately engage in the process.
